Why do people think that I MUST get my hair fixed & nails done because I'm Black?

I'm Black myself %26amp; other Black people think that because I don't have a perm (relaxer) %26amp; nails decorated, then I'm crazy %26amp; not conforming to society? I wanna stay natural. I just wanna be me. Why can't I be me %26amp; have my own style?

My case manager is Black %26amp; told me today that she thinks I should get a perm-RIGHT after she chewed me out %26amp; called me irresponsible because my electricity bill was high. But it wasn't high because of the energy I used. It was because of the deposit I had to put down.

I can't get jobs by my OWN Black people because I don't have chemically straightened hair. They will not hire me. But I see other Blacks walking around with natural hair. Why do I need a perm if beauticians tell me I have healthy, good hair? Perms cost money I don't have, ESPECIALLY if done by a professional %26amp; if I were to perm it myself, I'd have no hair %26amp; that ain't healthy. Besides, I have a scalp condition.

Why do people think that I MUST get my hair fixed %26amp; nails done because I'm Black?

Hun its just plain discrimination. If you like your hair natural I say keep it that way. Please continue to keep your head up and you will find a job. Most people think all black people don't want to better themselves but its not true.Racism is alive and well. We also get it from our own people.Be encouraged.

Why do people think that I MUST get my hair fixed %26amp; nails done because I'm Black?

Go to school, get a degree, then they won't care!!!!

You don't have to conform to what society thinks you should do!!

Why do people think that I MUST get my hair fixed %26amp; nails done because I'm Black?

tell them u like 2 b naturally beautiful

Why do people think that I MUST get my hair fixed %26amp; nails done because I'm Black?

White and Asian and Hispanic and all kinds of wemon get their hair did and nails done, and im sure they get people who recommend them certain beauty tips, you shouldn't trip

Why do people think that I MUST get my hair fixed %26amp; nails done because I'm Black?

im black and i go natural sista just be ur self and let what works for you work for u and forget the rest

Why do people think that I MUST get my hair fixed %26amp; nails done because I'm Black?

I don't think you should conform to what society says is right. I say do what you do as long as you look nice and feel good doing it. If they wont hire you because of that then that is definitely not the job for you. Just keep your head up and keep searching.

Why do people think that I MUST get my hair fixed %26amp; nails done because I'm Black?

I think that you have the type of personality that won't allow anyone to influence you to do something you don't want to do. It's a shame that we are harder on ourselves at times than our counterparts. Stay strong and true to yourself.

Why do people think that I MUST get my hair fixed %26amp; nails done because I'm Black?

I don't know - why *can't* you be you and have your own style? You say that you want to be yourself and not conform, but you also seem to care a lot about everyone's opinion. This pulls you in opposite directions. You have to choose one or the other. Do you want people to be happy with you, or do you want to be happy with yourself? The good news is that once you are truly happy with your natural hair and nails, and really stick to your style without giving any recognition to the various opinions, everyone else will begin to accept you as well. But you have to manifest your contentment and really stay positive about all things, and never become inflamed by what people say or think when it comes to your style. The more you make it an issue of being black, and pointing fingers at those who want to change you, the less power you allow yourself to have to overcome the situation. (sorry, this whole answer turned out waayy too Dr. Phil)

Why do people think that I MUST get my hair fixed %26amp; nails done because I'm Black?

Getting a perm can be damaging to the hair. Ask any stylist how this affects the hair shaft, etc. I feel the most important thing that you can do is feel comfortable and content with how you are to begin with.Sounds like you are and that is what matters most.Confidence in yourself goes a long way to promote yourself and have you show your potential in any job interview. Not to overdo it, not to seem too sure of one's self, that can backfire.Modesty is still needed then , but disregard what others tell you to do with your hair. It's your's and you have to wake up and have it daily, they don't. IF you have healthy hair then don't change that.

SO many others seem to do so much to their hair and don't know the damage they do when they alter what they've got.

I feel you should be glad for having good hair and not do what others tell you in that. I don't feel a perm will get a job for anyone faster or easier. Rely on your abilities to get that. Don't limit yourself to just applying to other black people too. I have mixed coworkers, we are hired on what we can do then. Rely on your skills and not ever think a perm is what you need.

Stay the way you are. Natural hair looks so much prettier to me.

What are some good, easy-to-use hair products?

I've never been very knowledgable when it comes to beauty products. I am, however, envious of all those girls with that shiny, healthy-looking hair that I can never seem to achieve. My hair is straight, boring, never smooth...in fact, it's never anything I want it to be. Does anyone know any good hair hair products (that aren't the high-maintenance type) that will make my hair smoother and silkier?

What are some good, easy-to-use hair products?

You can do some hair treatment once a week at home, it's basically like a conditioner, but it's a deep one and it replenishes nutrients, adds shine to hair. You can put the treatment on your cleansed hair, and let it sit for a couple hours (you can tie your hair up and do something else during the time), then you can wash it off, after a few weeks, you can see the difference Here are some treatments I have been using and my comments: http://beauty-tricks.com/index.php?optio...

P.S. if you are just starting out and not want anything expensive, Aussie 3-minute is quite a good choice!

What are some good, easy-to-use hair products?

You could use a hair straightener just to make it smooth and silky.. and use a protective spray b4 u use it so u dont damage ur hair.. itll make it smooth

What are some good, easy-to-use hair products?

one thing that worked for me is L'Oreal mousse after you shower. Also try to use a different shampoo...sometimes your hair looks healthier and better with one kind of shampoo and not the other.

What are some good, easy-to-use hair products?

i dont know eney hair products but u shuld try highlites they look great

sorry i culdnt helpwith the hair products tho lol

What are some good, easy-to-use hair products?

to make hair smoother and silkier a must-have is a good hair conditioner. you muist never skip conditioner if you want smooth hair. you can also apply leave-on conditioner after washing your hair. also do hair treatment or hair mask for softening and conditioning your hair weekly. it will really help. if all else fails, go to the professional for hair treatment.

When I was very young, in the 60's, my older sister was really into making her hair shiny %26amp; healthy but we never had any money. She read in a Reader's Digest column about the Benefits of Mayonnaise as a terrific %26amp; cheap hair conditioner that would leave your hair shiny %26amp; thick. My sister swore by this as a cheap %26amp; wonderful product to use and always had super gorgeous hair. Here's how she explained that it needed to be used:

*Slightly warm up a tablespoon full of mayonnaise (NOT SALAD DRESSING) n a small pan (or, microwave in a microwaveable cup )

* Pour it into your hands and even it up in both hands

*Rub it into your dry hair

*Comb it through your hair evenly

*Leave it in your hair for a few hours (enclose your hair in a plastic bag that's tight for extra conditioning)

*Wash out with your usual shampoo

You should notice a shiny difference. ONLY DO THIS WITH YOUR HAIR 1-2x PER MONTH MAXIMUM %26amp; REMEMBER TO FULLY RINSE THE MAYONNAISE OUT BEFORE USING SHAMPOO.

Happy, shiny hair to you!

[My sister also collected rain water outside in those days to wash her hair with, AND used lemon juice with her regular shampoo for extra blonde highlights.]

Hair care for athletes who train twice a day??

I've heard most stylists recommend washing one's hair every other day. However, I'm an athlete, so I often wash my hair twice a day, resulting in a great deal of frizz. What can I do to ensure healthy hair??

Hair care for athletes who train twice a day??

I was one as well and I remember how dry my hair used to get. But I'd have rather risked dry hair rather greasy smelly hair, or worse dandruff. =) Use the mildest shampoo you can find. Condition your hair after every shampoo, use an intensive conditioning formula (there's one by St. Ives for example) once a week. A hot oil treatment once in a while. There are also several brands of anti-frizz serums available.

It would also be brilliant if you can manage to get an aloe vera treatment for your hair. It soaks your hair in pure aloe vera extract for about half an hour before shampooing off. That would make your hair soooo shiny and feeling so healthy.

Hair care for athletes who train twice a day??

Buzz cut.

Hair care for athletes who train twice a day??

Hi! I run competitevely on my high school's XC and track teams, and we often get together for morning and evening workouts.

What I've found best is to take a shower at night, after running in the evening (so you're not gross for the morning) then french braid/braid my hair and wear it that way for morning practice. Then if you can shower just your body, the braids should still be okay, and your hair won't be too gross, and you can just keep it that way throughout the day.

I've tried washing my hair two times a day and it does not work!! It's horrible for it and dries it out--you're almost better of to deal with it being a little gross during the day (but the braids should help). Or you can put a little hair powder in it to soak up any sweat/oil from morning practice (never tried this but they sell at at beauty stores).

Hope this helps, and what sacrifices we athletes make :-)

Hair care for athletes who train twice a day??

use john friedas frizz-ease serum and put your hair in a bun if u want it to be shiny not greasy run your hair under cold water after taking a shower and combing it out

My hair is dry and falling out, because of a medical condition. What would you suggest?

I am a African American woman who has a condition called Hypothyroidism, and it's causing my hair to become dry, brittle, and it's starting to fall out. I have thought about wearing a wig, a wig piece, and maybe even a weave, but I don't want to cause further damage. Is a full wig the only way to go?

I used to have beautiful, long, healthy black hair, and now I have just the opposite. What can I do?

Healthy hair tips:

Use a moisturizing shampoo condtioner and leave in creme. I reccomened Neutrogena Triple Moisture, shampoo conditioner and deep recovery hair mask. It nourishes and

revitalizes dry dull damaged hair to softer shinier healthier hair everytime you wash it, it might cost alot but it's worth it;

Reviews:

If you dye your hair alot, leave your hair alone and wait to dye it atleast 3 years later or so. Hair dye has terrible chemicals that kill dry/damage your hair.

Brush your hair before shampooing and conditioner so your hair won't be tangeled and managable.

Comb your hair about 20 times each side so your natural oils can fall into the rest of your hair for natural shine

Don't wash your hair everyday try 3 times a week, Washing hair everyday strips the natural oils of your hair into duller dry hair.

Discontinue to heat style your hair or your hair will end up more dry/damaged, wait till it's completely healthy and maybe heat style once a week.

Avoid combing hair while wet, gently use a wide tooth comb, hair is very vulnerable while wet and can break off easily.

Don't put your hair into pigtails, buns or ponytails while wet, that causes split ends, breakage and damage.

Deep condition twice a week to bring back moisture to your hair.

Trim your hair tips every 4-6 weeks to promote healthy hair grow and prevent split ends from happening.

While shampooing massage your scalp with your fingertips slowly, not with your nails, nails damage the scalp and nails tend to be dirty. it's not necessary to shampoo the ends, then rinse with warm water to open the hair cuticles.

While conditioner leave on for about 2-4 minutes so you can get great results then comb hair with wide tooth comb then rinse with very cold water to help seal the hair cuticles.

If you use gel/hairspray/moose stop using them. They damage and dry up your hair because of the alchohol it contains.

If you use heat appliaces (blowdryers, curling irons, hair straightener) use a heat protecter spray so it'll protect your hair from heat.

If hair is really dry, go to the salon to get a deep treatment on your hair.

Once a month use a special deep conditioning treatment like olive oil, vitamin e oil, mayonaisse, eggs, hot oil treatment, castor oil, coconut oil almond oil or avocado.

Take multivimains, vitamin e, follic acid or prenatal vitamins to promote healthy hair growth.

Drink lots of water for shinier/healthier hair and eat lots of protein and healthy food like meat, milk, cheese, peanut butter, eggs pasta, cooked beans and raw vegetables.

If your in the sun alot buy a cap or a hoodie to protect your hair from the sun, heat damages and drys out your hair.

Buy a leave-in-conditioner/leave-in conditioner/creme to moisturize your hair all day long and don't rinse.

After your out of the shower set your blowdryer on cool setting and blowdryer your hair for 2 minutes, this will help seal the hair cuticles for a smooth shiny surface.

While combing hair, comb it gentle to avoid breakage.

i suggest u that wash u'r hair after 2 day but apply oil

for 1 hour before then wash so it was not dry ,frizzy

I hope this help U

Good Luck!!!!

How often do you wash your hair?

I wash mine once a month, whether it needs it or not.

How often do you wash your hair?

I prefer to wash my hair every other day. If i leve if for the third my hair just does not cooperate.

How often do you wash your hair?

My hair is dry, wavy, and sometimes oily. When my hair is oily, which is ocasionally, I wash my hair everyday. But that's what causes it to be dry. Usually in the winter and fall, I wash my hair every other day, and usually in the spring and summer, I wash my hair everyday.

My schedule:

Spring and Summer- wash everyday because it is hot out

Winter and Fall - wash every other day because cool weather is the season of hair frizz which make hair dry if you wash your hair everyday.

For your hair type, I suggest during the spring and summer, every other day and during the fall and winter, no more than every other day.

If you want your hair healthier, I suggest you condition it at least 2 times a week.

Hope I Helped.

Hair Dye Virgin! What color should I dye my hair (picture included)?

I have to dye it because I'm an actress and the part I'm playing calls for darker colored hair. Although, it needs to fit the part (a russian) I would also like for it to look natural- so I don't look completely stupid in every day life. I have a picture of myself and if you could give me a picture of a hair color you think would work that'd be great.

I have never dyed my hair before, though! I really don't want to damage it. Is it true dying your hair damages it? Or are there some precautions or steps I can take to ensure my hair stays healthy?

Thanks!

you hair can still stay healthy. jsut use color shapoo and conditiner.

and miley cyrus has really pretty dark hair i love it

Hair Dye Virgin! What color should I dye my hair (picture included)?

I think your hair is pretty dark already! (but it might of been just the picture...) Anyways, hair coloring can be damaging but you CAN take some precatutions such as:

-using a natural hair dye. They work as good as those chemical filled ones

- Condition your hair daily! Don't slack off in the shower! Make sure you buy some conditioners for dyed hair!

Hair Dye Virgin! What color should I dye my hair (picture included)?

First of all you have gorgeous hair! But since you have to dye it I suggest going with a couple shades darker, nothing too dark! I have a very similar color to yours ( a little more red) I tried to dye it darker and it came out midnight black so be careful if you're using a home kit.

perhaps the medium brown off the link below...good luck!

Hair Dye Virgin! What color should I dye my hair (picture included)?

Darlin,

My advice is to head to the beauty shop...let a professional, handle this....I'm not going to give u bad advice by saying Oh Yeah!!! go for it.....That would be cold blooded...that's not me. Ck w/ the saloon...I bet U can get this dirt cheap if they think their work is going to be on display...Good Luck!!! w/ the shoot!!!

Hair Dye Virgin! What color should I dye my hair (picture included)?

Please, please, use Robert Craig hair dye. I am in no way affiliated with Robert Craig, but his hair dye makes your hair soft and shiny, and it does NOT smell and have harsh chemicals like ammonia. I was once a hair dye virgin, and oh how I wished I had used this first. Instead, I just went to a drugstore and bought a hair dye, and the result was not good. Even after my hair had been dyed red, bleached, and then dyed brown again (my natural color), I went to a fancy salon and even their hair dye salon would not even stay on my hair and made my hair dry. Then, I discovered Robert Craig. It was so easy, and they have a free consultation on their website so you will know exactly what color you will need.

Even if one day you dye your hair the wrong color and you go to the salon, they will probably bleach it. NEVER bleach your hair (unless, you want it to look like that. ) Just bye a Robert Craig hair color and it will cover your bleached hair no problem.

I would suggest their ash brown color, if you want your hair to be a dark brown/black. But they have many shades of brown, etc.

Im 21 and little by little my hair keeps going back?

on the corners, i hate it,

what can i do to stop this and fill the corners up?

what kind of "gel" should i use? whats healthy for hair

i like to curl my hair so i need some help in preventing hair loss

Im 21 and little by little my hair keeps going back?

don't worry it will stop retreating when it reaches your neck. If nothing else you could try rogaine or some other formula to try to keep it where it is. May or may not work. didn't for me, mine is still in full retreat down my back, I figure it will stop when it reaches my ankles.

Im 21 and little by little my hair keeps going back?

Usually when hair starts falling out at such an early age it is hereditary. I have to ask the question, is it falling out or wearing out? If it is falling out I would suggest that you stop curling it and even stop using gels. Use heavy leave in conditioner. You can never use too much. Gels have a tendency to dry out the hair making it brittle and easier to fall out. Considering your age, it may be wise to find you a good dermatologist and get a better diagnosis. Hair can fall out quickly, so the sooner the better. Catch it now before it gets out of control and becomes too late.
