i know there's a foundation called "Locks of Love", but is there any here in Canada?? I really want to donate my hair. and im doing it with a friend and she really inspires me. Also, i want to help and because i dont want my long healthy thick hair to go to waste. Other people can have my hair. =)

there is a great charity called "locks of love" i don't have the web address or anything but if you type it in a search you will be able to go from there. It gives the hair that you donate to children who have cancer and have lost their hair. I think that it is a great place to give your hair

Canadians can also participate in Locks of Love. All you have to do is make sure your hair fits the guidelines, fill out a form, and send it in.

The truth is that Locks of Love does NOT give hairpieces to kids with cancer; it says so right on their website.
The truth is also that LoL has plenty of hair and often sells the hair--which means that when you dream of your hair on the head of a little kid, it may indeed be on Paris Hilton.
Frankly, if I were going to donate something for cancer patients, I'd find a small charity and give them the money.
I think it's incredibly deceptive of LoL to not work harder to defeat the image of the hair going to kids with cancer and to continue to ask for hair rather than saying "we have enough, please send money instead." Especially when you consider the number of people who grow their hair specifically for LoL, grooming it carefully while imagining the joy of the child who will receive it.
I'm amazed by the number of people who, after donating, learn about LoL's deceptive practices and are immediately incensed and wish they had their hair back.

Ask the person who cuts your hair. Tell her that you want to donate your hair when she cuts it. That's what i do every time i grow my hair out long enough to donate. If she doesn't do it, I'm pretty sure if you go onto the Locks of Love website, they can tell you how to send the braid and the requirements to their center.

Try any places that makes wigs or hair salons. Most people donate their hair to cancer patients who is going through chemotherapy. Maybe try to contact the hospital or cancer foundations, I am sure they will surely help out and provide more information for your generous support.

i would NOT recommend going to locks of love. it is a borderline scam operation that has many limitations on who gets the wigs, and the majority of the time, they just sell your hair to other wig companies.

HOW TO DONATE
10 inches measured tip to tip is the minimum length needed for a hairpiece.
Hair must be in a ponytail or braid before it is cut.
Hair must be clean and completely dry before it is mailed in.
Place the ponytail or braid inside of a plastic bag, and then inside of a padded envelope.
Fill out the hair donation form, or write your name and address on a separate sheet of paper and include inside the envelope.
All hair donations must be mailed to Locks of Love at:
