Best way to straighten hair without damaging it?

i've been straightening my hair for a while, and before i did i had healthy hair with no flyaways and split ends. now i have gazillions of split ends and my hair looks really damaged. is there a way to straighten it without using my straightener or any way to keep my hair looking okay? i found some answers on some other questions but they weren't that helpful. and i hope to find these products at, let's say Target or Walmart, or someplace i could recognize easily. but that isn't really importat. thanks to everyone who responds. i appreciate it. =)

you are pulling too hard on the straightener darling.

Use a good conditioner and continue to use the straightener, but don't pull it down so hard.

when you wash your hair, don't pile it on your head. Simply shampoo your scalp and let the shampoo run through your hair while "combing" with your fingers.

When you dry your hair, let it hang and squeeze the hair using a towel. Don't wring it or rub it together. This will help to prevent further damage to your hair.

I'm afraid there is no repair treatment for your already damaged hair except to cut the ends off. Be patient and let it grow and keep trimming until all the split ends are gone. And don't believe any commercial that tells you their product can repair split ends.... they can't.

I blowdry my hair using low heat and no brushes. I simply use my fingers to pull my hair straight. It gives me shiny hair that is mostly straight but with some wave, looks better than stick straight hair anyway.

i kno exactly what you are talking about here... but i would try some heat protector product for your hair that you put on it before straightening it... and these products really do work as my hair has gotten better since i have tried using various products that protect my hair from heat damage

i have a similar problem but theres a product that i bought from the salon i get my haircut at. it's called biosilk. it feels kinda oily on your hands but it makes your hair extremely soft.

i don't think they sell it at target or walmart but possibly at your hair salon or one of those cosmetic/hair care places in the mall.

I straighten my hair alot, and at first the hairdresser said that it was damaging my hair, but she recomended ways and now my hair doesnt look dead or damaged at all.

First after having a shower if you get a hair dryer, and a brush you can hold the hair dryer to one side of your hair, and to the other side hold the brush, start at the top and make your way down.

The other is buying products that keep your hair alive.

Two Products i use are:

1) Andrew Collinge - perfect endings - heat defence styling spray

2) Justice haircare - nourish and hydrate - protein treatment

hope this helps.

make it simple: Put some kind of product in ur hair so the chemicals burn and not your hair. also condition when u wash and try using a REAL ceramic straightener.. it works for me and i have realli healthy hair. i straighten mine almost everyday and i still get compliments from my hair stylists that its healthy. also dont straighten ur hair when its all wet that damages it really bad
