Sometime in November of last year, i bleached my entire upper half of my hair to nearly white from dark dark brown. I got my hair back and healthy with conditioning and about a month ago i died my hair permanent black hoping i had healthy enough hair for it to stay in, but it stayed in a little too well.
Last weekend I tried to use blonde dye to get a few streaks in my hair, but the color only worked on my uncolored roots and not on my dyed hair. I was thinking about getting my hair stripped, but I had a few questions.
What EXACTLY is hair stripping?
About how much would it cost at an average salon?
(I live in Minnesota if that helps)
Would I be able to use the same blonde dye and it would work on all of my hair?

you have to stop doing your hair yourself , i am a hairstylist and you are gonna ruin your hair, leave it alone and let a professional do it , call around in your area and see who can do the blonde , because if you do it yourself, it will turn orange , dont touch it !!!

Okay here it is. You can not lift out artificial hair color with other hair color. Period. Tell me how many coats of the dark you put on? You may be able to have a salon do a color reduction. This is radically different from having it stripped out. Because you have bleach under the black I would not, I repeat would not strip this out. You need a color correction specialist. If they don't know the difference between stripping and color reduction- they are not the right person. The bad news is that this going to cost you. The only other suggestion I have to call the best salon in your town or city and offer to model for one of there color correction classes. You can NOT just tell them you want color. You must tell them the whole story of your hair for the last several years as far as color goes. Be patient this is tough situation. You may not get your "ideal" color right away- it may take a few appointments. Best of luck.
